Startup Spring 2014

Startup Tasmania's Startup Spring Bootcamp 2014 wrap up

It was a fantastic day of presentations by experienced mentors, with lively open discussion about what it takes to make it in business.

We were thrilled with the turnout and we were also very excited by the pitches on the night. It is nerve-wracking to put yourself out there and you all did yourselves proud, so congratulations to:

  • Peter Wallhead - Coderjobs.io
  • Lawrence McDonald - the Integrated Water Management System
  • Christian Rainey - YouGolfMe
  • Claire McLaren - Claire McLaren public relations
  • Avanish Kaushal - small accommodation iphone management system
  • Jason Carter - Fade to Black - a screenplay by Mark 'Chopper' Read
  • Tim Tabart - The Mirror

And the winner was....

Christian Rainey, with his online golf coaching product YouGolfMe - an online golf coaching website which allows golfers to submit videos of their game in action for expert coaching and commentary. Christian has won two tickets plus including flights and accommodation to Above All Human a special event by Startup Victoria on December 9, featuring the brains behind some to of Silicon Valley’s biggest success stories including Twitch.TV, Skype, Twitter, Medium, Reddit, AirBnB, Stripe, Hipmunk, Pinterest, Quora and more. They’ll be joined by some of Australia’s best investors and startup founders.

Our thanks to the presenters and to PWC for sponsoring the event, and our special thanks to guest pitch panel judge Dixie Emmerton, Managing Director of the Centre for Tasmanian Industry and this year's winner of the Telstra Business Womens Awards Business Owner category. Dixie has added to the prize pool, with a special consultation with the Centre for the winner this year.

Resources from the day

As promised, the presentations will be made available to attendees on the day. For Startup Tasmania members, the presentations will be made available shortly via a new member portal on the Startup Tasmania website - more details soon!

Congratulations to everyone involved and we wish them the best of luck on their startup adventure!
